Statement of Mrs. Catherine Bass who being duly sworn upon her Oath deposes & says I live in Johnson Township Washington County Mo. I am thirty two years of age. You Chas. Hulsey, on or about the 28th day of October he Chas. Hulsey came to my house in company with three Rebles and seven conscripts, he Chas. Hulsey told me that he was no conscript, but that he was their guide. My husband was hid out in the woods in company with some of our neighbors. The reble captain then asked for my husband and that he wanted my husband to go with him. I then told the Capt. that if Mr. Bass was home he would go with him. Mr. Chas. Hulsey then said if the found him Mr. Bass hid out in the woods that they would kill him and all others that were hid, and that it would be best for Bass to come in and give himself up, Chas. Huosey then said to me Catherine bring in your horses, and give them up for if they find your horses tied out in the woods they will destroy and Burn your property
