Statement of female prisoner regarding bushwhacking activities...
Miss Anna Reynolds a Prisoner states, I reside in Lafayette Co Mo. Have lived there for about two years. I formerly resided in Jackson Co Mo. My mother Elisa Reynolds removed from there with her family in obedience to Genl. Ewings Order No 11. My father died at home about the time of the fight at Springfield Mo in the year 1861 or 2. I have one brother Hedgeman Reynolds age 23 years. He is a bushwhacker, has been in the brush since Genl Ewing's order was published. He joined Capt Parker's Band when he left home to go to the Brush. My brother had previously been in the Rebel Army under Capt Than---.
I have seen my brother only twice since he went to the Brush. Once in May 1864 & last in October last when Genl Price made his Raid through Mo. He was at that time of Bill Anderson's Band of Guerillas. I have never lived or cohabited with Bushwhackers or been intimate with them or harboured or aided them in any way whatever nor have I given them any information prejudicial to the interests of the Govt or beneficial to its enemies.
I have often seen Bushwhackers & talked with him. They have been several times at my mother's house. I had however but little to say to them. I saw six Bushwhackers in Waverly Mo some five weeks since but did not speak with them. My mother & I have often tried to pursuade my Borther to leave the Brush & go to California but he would not listen to us. I am Southern in my feelings and friendly to the Confederate Cause but am opposed to Bushwhacking. My age is twenty one years.
