Record Group 003: Governors Papers, Governor John C. Edwards (1844-1848), Correspondence, 7 October 1845

This letter to Governor Edwards is from Sheriff Edward Cunningham, St. Charles County. It describes the escape of Isaac Dean, an African American indicted for helping slaves escape. The letter describes Dean as "about 35 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 10 inches high, heavy built, thick lips and a small thin hand, Black complexion."
