August 3, 2004 State Primary Election Information
Missouri’s primary election is held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in August of even numbered years. The primary is held for established political parties to nominate their candidates for the November general election. Since Missouri has open primaries, every eligible registered voter may select the party ballot of their choice. Primary voters may select only one party’s ballot. Those voters who do not wish to give a political party preference may request an issues only ballot, if one is available in that particular jurisdiction.
The filing period for the August 3, 2004 state primary election was from February 24 to March 30, 2004.
