The Governor issued a Writ of Election to fill the vacancy in the office of State Senate, District 4. This vacancy was created by the resignation of State Senator Jeff Smith. Candidates nominated by the political parties or by petition must file their declaration of candidacy with the Secretary of State by 5:00 p.m. on September 29, 2009, for the special election to be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2009.
