The Missouri State Library supports libraries statewide through continuing education programs and the development of services, activities and resource sharing among all types of libraries. The Library Development team includes both general consultants and specialists.

Consultant staff:

  • plan continuing education for library employees and library trustees,
  • assists individual libraries in evaluating and planning for service improvements,
  • develop statewide projects for cooperative development of services
  • plan and implement statewide technology projects, currently focusing on MCAT Plus, the statewide online database of library holdings
  • collect statistics and conduct surveys to assess the status of Missouri libraries,
  • advocate the development of library service statewide,
  • produce publications for library staff and governing bodies,
  • consult with personnel from state institutions (hospitals, special schools, prisons) to establish and improve library service.
