Athlete and Entertainer Funds Transferred to Public Libraries

Public libraries certified for state aid program in FY08 were eligible to receive Athlete and Entertainer (A & E) Fund payments. A total of $802.767.11 was distributed to these public libraries in mid-May as a result of the State Library's portion of the Out of State Athletes and Entertainers levied Income Tax. Individual library payments are calculated on a formula based on a library's facilities and collection expenditure.

A & E funds cannot replace local funding for materials that had been identified in the library's current budget.

However, these new dollars may be used for the purchase of additional library materials, such as books and audio materials, video materials, CD-Roms, computer software, e-books and e-audio, if such content is owned by the library. Note that electronic databases and other subscription content are ineligible for purchase with these funds.
