EXECUTIVE ORDER
82-22

WHEREAS, an unprecedented amount of precipitation, falling on Southeastern Missouri on December 2nd and 3rd, 1982, causing flooding conditions and a threat to inhabitants in various areas of Southeastern Missouri.

WHEREAS, such flood conditions creating a hazard to property and public safety, now recognized to be beyond the capabilities of local and other established agencies necessitating, therefore, the provision of emergency relief to the citizenry of the distressed area;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, KENNETH J. ROTHMAN, LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF MISSOURI and Commander in chief of the militia of this State, in the absence of the Governor, by virtue of the authority vested in me by Section 41.480; RSMo 1978, do declare that an emergency does exist in Southeastern Missouri and I order and direct the Adjutant General of the State or his designee to forthwith call and order into active service such portions of the organized militia as he deems necessary to aid the executive officials in Southeastern Missouri, and municipalities located therein, to assist local civil authorities in life threatening situations, and it is further ordered and directed that the Adjutant General or his designee and through him the commanding officer of any unit or other organization of such organized militia so called into active service, to take such action and employ such equipment as may be deemed necessary in support of civilian authorities, and to provide such other assistance as may be authorized and directed.

This order is effective immediately.
