EXECUTIVE ORDER
84-5

WHEREAS, I have been advised that an ice storm of major proportion has occurred in the State of Missouri causing conditions of distress or hazard to public safety and to agriculture emergencies;

WHEREAS, such ice and freezing conditions are recognized to be beyond the capabilities of local and other established agencies necessitating, therefore, the provisions of emergency relief to the citizenry of the distressed area;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, KENNETH J. ROTHMAN, ACTING AND LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF MISSOURI, by virtue of authority vested in me by Section 41.480 Revised Statutes of Missouri 1978, do declare that an emergency does exist and direct the Adjutant General of the State or his designee to forthwith call and order into active service such portions of the organized militia as he deems necessary to aid the executive officials, and it is further ordered and directed that the Adjutant General or his designee, and through him the commanding office of any unit or other organization of such organized militia so called into active service, to take such action and employ such equipment as may be deemed necessary in support of civilian authorities, and to provide such other assistance as may be authorized and directed.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused to be affixed the Great Seal of the State of Missouri, in the City of Jefferson, on this 19th day of March, 1984.
