EXECUTIVE ORDER
89-4

WHEREAS, I have been advised by the Director of the Department of Public Safety that a Natural Disaster of major proportions has occurred in the Missouri counties of McDonald, Barry, Newton, Jasper and Lawrence; and

WHEREAS, damage to and loss of property has occurred as the result of heavy snows from March 4 to March 6, 1989; and

WHEREAS, the safety and welfare of the people of Missouri and their property so require:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOHN ASHCROFT, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF MISSOURI, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the constitution and laws of the State of Missouri, do hereby declare the aforementioned counties to be disaster areas. I direct that the approved Missouri Comprehensive Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Relief Plan be activated, and further authorize the use of such state agencies, personnel and equipment as may be necessary.

This Order shall terminate on June 6, 1989, unless I direct otherwise.
