EXECUTIVE ORDER
NO. 98-07

 

WHEREAS, Executive Order 94-12 provides that the membership of the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Health will consist of twenty-eight 28) members: twenty (20) appointed by the Governor for two (2) year terms; four (4) members of the General Assembly, who serve terms as determined by the Governor; and four (4) members from state agencies, appointed by the Governor and to serve terms as determined by the Governor.

WHEREAS, Executive Order 97-13 amended Executive Order 94-12 by providing that Council membership would be increased from twenty-eight (28) members to twenty-nine (29) members. The member added by Executive Order 97-13 is to be appointed by the Governor and serve on the Council until July 1, 2000.

WHEREAS, it is necessary to designate the Lieutenant Governor as a permanent member of the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Health.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mel Carnahan, Governor of the State of Missouri, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the State of Missouri, do hereby amend Executive Order 94-12 as follows:

The Lieutenant Governor shall serve as a permanent member of the Council. Thus the total membership of the Council, with the addition of the Lieutenant Governor, shall remain twenty-nine (29) members, notwithstanding the provisions of Executive Order 97-13. The remaining twenty-eight (28) members of the Council (those members other than the Lieutenant Governor) shall be chosen as provided in Executive Order 94-12 (notwithstanding the provisions of Executive Order 97-13).
