For Agencies Submitting Publications
What is my User ID?
Your User ID is the full 14-digit number located on the back of your Missouri State Library patron card.
If you've been designated as a State Publications Contact for your agency, but you do not have a patron card please complete the registration form. Indicate that you are a Designated Contact and return the form to Reference Services.
Other card benefits include:
- requesting books through MOBIUS and our online catalog
- accessing many of our article and research databases online from anywhere.
What is my password?
If you have forgotten your password, or never received one, please contact us at libref@sos.mo.gov and a new one will be sent to your state email address.
What types of publications are agencies required to send?
State agencies and offices are required by statute* to submit their publications to the State Publications Access Program. *RSMO 181.100-181.110
Following are the types of publications required by Missouri State Library:
- Annual reports
- Budget reports
- Committee/Commission reports
- Reports of projects
- Financial reports
- Guides
- House and Senate Journals
- Journals
- Official state manuals
- Revised Statutes
- Statistical reports
- Strategic plans
- Subject–defined single titles, e.g. Trees of Missouri
We will not be including:
- Announcements
- Bibliographies
- Brochures
- Calendars
- Laws, rules & regulations
- Lists of publications
- Press releases
What digital formats can I submit?
Following are the digital formats currently supported by our repository. Publications should be submitted as a single digital file whenever possible.
Only one version of a publication is necessary provided it is complete.
- HTML (.html, .asp, .php, etc.)
- Microsoft Word (.doc)
- Rich Text Format (.rtf)
- Plain text (.txt)
- XML (with associated structure and style information)
- Tagged Image Format (.tiff)
- JPEG
- GIF
Do I still need to submit 45 paper copies of a publication?
No. Under the new rules, you must submit a digital copy of your publication to the Missouri State Library.
In addition, you must submit 5 paper copies of a publication to the State Library as long as your agency still produces a paper version for general distribution.
Of the 5 copies required, 2 will be distributed to the state archives, 2 to the state historical society and 1 to the Library of Congress.
Can I submit publications without using Internet Explorer as my browser?
You may use any FTP client to connect directly to our FTP server at ftp://ftp.sos.mo.gov/Private/StateLibraryPubs/
If you are unable to access our FTP site, please send your publication via email or use the alternative notification form.
