Explore the Civil War

From 1861 to 1865, Missouri was torn apart by the Civil War. The conflict brought violent military battles, ruthless guerrilla warfare and a complete upheaval of the state’s institutions. Through the resources available on Missouri Digital Heritage, you can travel back to the first stirrings of rebellion, learn how slaves fought for their freedom, and explore how Missouri families rebuilt their communities.
