Kander Statement on Candidate Filing Fraud Cases in St. Louis County
Jefferson City, Mo. — Secretary of State Jason Kander today released the following statement on the candidate filing fraud cases announced in St. Louis County today:
"My office has zero tolerance for fraud in elections. We are looking into this matter to see if we can offer any assistance to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney, St. Louis County Police Department or St. Louis County Board of Elections to help ensure that justice is served."
According to court documents:
- Jerrell Clayton Sherod of St. Louis was charged with a felony Class One elections offense for knowingly making a false sworn statement in his declaration of candidacy for alderman.
- Rachelle Oliver of St. Louis was charged with a felony Class One elections offense for knowingly making a false sworn statement in his declaration of candidacy for mayor.
- Andrew D. Schafer of St. Louis was charged with two counts of felony Class One elections offenses and two counts of Class C felony forgery in connection with Sherod’s and Oliver’s candidate declarations.
Sherod and Oliver both filed in Flordell Hills.
