Carnahan Reminds Voters of Approaching Registration Deadline

St. Louis, Missouri – Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan today released a new video message to remind Missourians of the October 8 voter registration deadline. Since the beginning of the year, over 220,000 voters have registered for the first time, and almost 500,000 voters have updated their name or address to ensure they can participate in the November 4 General Election.

Secretary Carnahan today also introduced a new website, www.GoVoteMissouri.com, which makes it easy for voters to register, find their polling place, and learn what will be on their ballot this November. Voters can also sign up to be a poll worker or view live election night results on the site.

According to U.S. Census figures, more than six million eligible voters said they did not vote in the November 2004 election because they missed their state’s voter registration deadline.

Hi, I'm Secretary of State Robin Carnahan.

With the November election just around the corner, I'd like to remind Missourians to be sure they're registered to vote.

The deadline to register, or update a registration, is Wednesday October 8^th, less than a week away.

Remember, if a person has moved since they last voted or changed their name, they need to update their registration.

Something as simple as registering should not keep a person from having their voice heard in what is shaping up to be one of the most exciting elections in our history.

Already, over 220,000 Missourians have registered to vote for the first time and nearly half a million have updated their registration.

Now, I'd like to unveil our new website VOTE MISSOURI.

On this website, in just a few clicks, you can download a voter registration form or find out whether you are registered already.

You also can find out the location of your polling place; who and what will be on the ballot and even up-to-the-minute election night results.

So take a look at Vote Missouri to find the answers to election questions, information about how to vote absentee and what kind of ID to take with you to the polls.

You can also find out how to get a ballot sent to a family member serving overseas or even how to be an Election Day poll worker.

Vote Missouri will give you all the information you need to be an up-to-date, informed voter in Missouri.
