One Police Plaza by William J. Caunitz.
New York City police detective Dan Malone becomes suspicious of the murder of a low-level clerk who inexplicably had access to an elite club. The Paperboy by Pete Dexter.

Waiting for the Barbarians by J.M.Coetzee.

Warrior Class by Dale Brown.
