News from Nancy Doering, Youth Services Librarian

Welcome to the School Services page of Wolfner Library’s web site. This page is for teachers, counselors, special services directors, school librarians and media specialists, principals and other educators who work with students in Missouri schools—public, private, and parochial. We want to provide you with basic information about Wolfner Library services. We also want to make it easier for you to register your school, reactivate Wolfner Library services, or register an individual student.

Why would my school need Wolfner Library services? Almost every school has students who are eligible for this free library service. Wolfner Library serves persons who are blind and visually impaired. Did you know we also serve persons who cannot use standard print materials due to a physical disability or a reading disability? To find out more about who can use this service, click on this link:

Is your school registered with Wolfner Library? More than 700 schools and small school districts in Missouri are registered with Wolfner Library. If your school is already in our patron database, you do not need to complete and submit the Application for Free Library Service: Institutions. If you are not sure if your school is registered, contact Wolfner Library toll-free at 800-392-2614, or e-mail the Youth Services Librarian using the link on this web site.

Our new online public access catalog is up and running on our web site. Wolfner Library has a new and improved online catalog for the convenience of our patrons. You can search for books by author, title, subject and keyword. You can request and reserve books via the online system. Although the online catalog is intuitive, you may also wish to have a copy of the instructions we developed to maximize your benefit from the online catalog. Call the library toll-free at 800-392-2614 and ask for a copy of the OPAC instructions.
