Ashcroft Works with Election Officials to Ensure Successful Elections
Jefferson City, Mo. — Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft worked with election officials to ensure the success of today’s elections.
Ashcroft made calls throughout the day to local election authorities, answering any questions they had, and offering assistance if needed. The Secretary of State’s Elections Division served as a hotline to address any concerns or questions voters had.
“We are proud of Missouri’s election officials and poll workers, who were well-informed and well-prepared to help voters understand the voting process and their new voting options,” Ashcroft said. “We’ve already seen success in New Madrid and St. Louis under the new photo ID law, and the elections today were equally successful. We will continue to assist local election officials in future elections, ensuring every registered voter is able to cast a ballot.”
In preparation for the elections, the Secretary of State’s staff spent the past few months personally traveling to every county holding an election to meet with the local election authority. The secretary himself held 59 informational meetings over the course of the past two months, discussing Missouri’s photo voter ID law with media and the public.
