Ashcroft Encourages Missourians to Vote, Visits Local Election Officials
Jefferson City, Mo. — Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft is encouraging eligible Missourians to get out and vote in today’s primary election.
“If you’re registered to vote, you can vote — and we need you to vote,” Ashcroft said. “For everyone who doesn’t vote, we lose their wisdom and their experience. The more of us we have trying to find the best solution, the better off we are. Please go out and make your voice heard today.”
In the days leading up to today’s election, Ashcroft visited election officials in 22 counties to discuss election preparedness and answer questions.
“Our election officials and poll workers are well-trained and well-prepared,” Ashcroft said. “We are regularly in contact with the local election authorities throughout the state, ensuring the fairness and security of Missouri’s elections.”
Polling places statewide open at 6 a.m. and remain open until 7 p.m. Voters in line by 7 p.m. are entitled to cast a ballot.
Election questions can be directed to 800-669-8683. For information on what to bring to the polls, visit www.ShowIt2Vote.com.
