EXECUTIVE ORDER
80-15

WHEREAS, the firemen of the City of Kansas City, Missouri, have failed to report to their assigned stations, thereby leaving those fire stations unmanned; and

WHEREAS, such action has created a condition of distress and hazard to the public health, safety and welfare and a risk to public property, recognized to be beyond the capabilities of the City.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH P. TEASDALE, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF MISSOURI, by virtue of the laws of the State of Missouri, do hereby order and authorize the Adjutant General of the State of Missouri to call and order into active service such units and individuals of the active militia as in his judgment may be necessary to protect life and property and to maintain peace and order in that City. The Adjutant General, or his designee, is hereby authorized and ordered forthwith to take action and utilize equipment as may be necessary for the protection and preservation of life and property and maintenance of peace and order in the City.

The military forces activated by this order will act in aid of the executive official of the City to provide security and protection to the city fire stations and the equipment therein, and to provide fire fighting and rescue services in Kansas City, and to provide such other fire department services as may be authorized by the Governor, and the executive official shall designate in general terms the particular mission to be accomplished. The mode and means of execution shall be left to the discretion of the commanding officer designed by the Adjutant General.

This order is effective immediately.
