The Missouri Historical Records Grant Program

The Missouri Historical Records Grant Program (MHRGP) was created through a collaborative effort between the state of Missouri and the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC), the grant-awarding arm of the National Archives and Records Administration. The grant program is administered by the Missouri State Archives, Office of the Secretary of State, on behalf of the Missouri Historical Records Advisory Board. The program awards financial assistance to help preserve and make accessible Missouri's historical records and promotes archival education and cooperation among records keepers.

The Missouri Historical Records Grant Program has been extended for a third cycle to begin after July 1, 2003. Program guidelines and application materials are in development. For more information please contact Shelly Croteau, Project Director at (573) 751-4303 or email at grantprogram@sos.mo.gov

MHRGP Web-Based Initiative

In March 2005, the MHRGP awarded additional funding to five successful grant recipients for web-enhancement and creation of technology-driven solutions to meet the need for sharing best practices and improved communication on topics of interest to the historical records community.  The funding recipients are: the American Jazz Museum ,Still National Osteopathic Museum and the National Center for Osteopathic History, The History Museum of Springfield-Greene County, KOPN 89.5 FM Community Radio Station, and the Vernon County Historical Society.  Please follow the links below to organizational sites to learn more about their projects.  The future promises a broad list-serve format for encouraging further cooperative strategies among professional archivists, historians, records staff, and volunteers throughout Missouri and the nation.
