MOREnet EBSCO Databases

All digital resources linked below are available for use by Missouri libraries with a MOREnet membership to provide to their patrons. Go to search.more.net or email [email protected] for more information and assistance.

To receive grant funding, if a public library is a MOREnet member their website must have links to MOREnet electronic resources.

The following databases are accessed using the EBSCOhost search engine. Those with their own search interfaces are indicated as such. EBSCOhost Tutorials.

  • Academic Search Elite: Provides core resources of scholarly information for academic institutions. Academic Search Elite contains full text for more than 2,100 journals and over 1,700 peer-reviewed, full-text journals.
  • Book Collection: Nonfiction - Elementary Education: A research database for school libraries that provides content representing a wide spectrum of works, including popular series from top book publishers. It contains searchable full text for more than 1,300 popular nonfiction books. The database includes high interest titles on animals, weather, holidays, adventure, sports, Native Americans, United States, Canada, biographies, nature, civics, and more. Machine translation of text into many different languages including Spanish, German, and Chinese. Download the html or an mp3 or listen to books online.
  • Book Collection: Nonfiction – Middle School Edition: A research database for school libraries that provides content representing a wide spectrum of works, including popular series from top book publishers. It contains searchable full text for more than 3,100 popular nonfiction books. The database includes high interest titles on careers, health, life skills, ethnicity, disabilities, adventure, sports, technology, biographies, history, science, women, civics, and more.   • Book Collection: Nonfiction - High School Edition: Book Collection: Nonfiction offers searchable full text for more than 4,500 popular nonfiction books. The database includes full text entries on core subject areas, as well as information on careers, health, sports, adventure, technology, life skills, and more. Machine translation of text into many different languages including Spanish, German, and Chinese. Download the html or an mp3 or listen to books online.
  • Consumer Health Complete (Has its own interface): A comprehensive resource for consumer-oriented health content. It is designed to support the information needs of patients and to foster an overall understanding of health-related topics. CHC provides content covering all areas of health and wellness from mainstream medicine to the many perspectives of complementary, holistic, and integrated medicine. Consumer Health Complete contains dozens of articles on a variety of teen health topics from smoking and sexting to dealing with anger and coping with divorce. “TeenTalk” articles are aimed at teens, while “How to Talk to Teens” articles provide tips to parents on starting difficult but important conversations.

    • eBook Public Library Collection: Find over 33,000 downloadable eBooks that includes fiction and non-fiction titles for both adults and juveniles. A wide range of subjects and topics are covered including self-help, health and fitness, games, crafts and hobbies, cooking, family, marriage, and religion.
    • eBook K-8 Collection: This collection is created for K-8 students and the educators that work with them. The eBook K-8 collection contains over 10,500 titles chosen to support a quality learning experience for K-8 students across all subject areas taught in elementary and middle schools. The collection also features a selection of teacher resources to support educators and administrators. All titles are available with unlimited simultaneous user access and titles are regularly added to the collection.
    • eBook High School Collection: Designed specifically for high school students and educators, this collection offers an easy way for libraries to provide full-text eBook coverage that aligns with their school’s curricula. This package contains nearly 8,000 eBook titles that support a quality learning experience across all academic subject areas, from history to language & literature to science & technology. Content includes a selection of classic literary works, important historical documents, and general reference materials. This collection also features a selection of teacher resources to support educators and administrators. All titles are available with unlimited simultaneous user access and titles are regularly added to the collection.
    • ERIC: ERIC (Education Resources Information Center) contains more than 1.6 million records and links to hundreds of thousands of full-text documents. It includes records for a variety of source types, including journal articles, books, conference papers, curriculum guides, policy papers, and more. Researchers can limit search results by education level such as early childhood education as well as on the intended audience such as counselors or teachers. ERIC also includes an education-specific thesaurus containing over 11,700 terms.
    • Explora Elementary: This interface is designed specifically for elementary school students according to their needs and search abilities. This interface is graphically rich and provides access to age-appropriate materials. Includes topic overviews that provide students with a starting point for research and 60,000 top videos from the Associated Press.

    • Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia: The Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia has over 25,000 easy-to-read online encyclopedia articles and images for children covering an array of topics. The information is updated annually. The listen feature enables you to have the computer read the encyclopedia entries out loud.
    • MasterFILE Premier: Designed specifically for public libraries, MasterFILE™ Premier contains full text for nearly 1,700 periodicals covering general reference, business, health, education, general science, multicultural issues, and much more. This database also contains full text of more than 500 reference books, over 107,000 primary source documents, and an image collection of more than 2 million photos, maps, and flags.
    • MAS Ultra: This database is designed specifically for high school libraries and contains full text for nearly 500 popular high school magazines including American History, Bioscience, Careers & Colleges, Congressional Digest, History Today, Popular Science, Smithsonian, etc. All full-text articles are assigned a reading level indicator (Lexiles). Full text is also available for 85,670 biographies, over 107,000 primary source documents, and more than 360 reference books (including the Columbia Encyclopedia, the CIA World Fact Book and World Almanac & Book of Facts). An image collection of over 592,000 photos, maps & flags, color PDFs; and expanded full-text backfiles (back to 1975) for key magazines is included.
    • MEDLINE: MEDLINE® provides authoritative medical citations and abstracts on medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, pre-clinical sciences, and much more from around the world. Created by the National Library of Medicine, MEDLINE uses MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) indexing with tree, tree hierarchy, subheadings, and explosion capabilities to search citations from over 4,800 current biomedical journal.
    • Middle Search Plus: Middle Search® Plus contains full text for more than 140 popular middle school magazines. All full-text articles are assigned a reading level indicator (Lexiles). Full text is also available for thousands of biographies and historical essays. Additionally, Middle Search Plus contains primary source documents including Essential Documents in American History, reference books including the Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia; American Heritage® Dictionary, 4th Edition from Houghton Mifflin; Encyclopedia of Animals™; and thousands of relevant photos, maps, and flags.
    • Newspaper Source: Newspaper Source™ provides cover-to-cover full text for hundreds of national (U.S.) and international newspapers, including Christian Science Monitor, USA Today, The Washington Post, The Washington Times, The Times (London), Toronto Star, etc. The database also contains selective full text for more than 370 regional (U.S.) newspapers. In addition, full-text television and radio news transcripts are provided from CBS News, CNN, CNN International, FOX News, NPR, etc.
    • Primary Search: Primary Search®, designed specifically for elementary school students contains full text for more than 80 popular elementary school magazines, including those from Cricket Media. All full-text articles are assigned a reading level indicator (Lexiles). Additionally, Primary Search includes the Encyclopedia of Animals™, and features Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia, providing students with easy-to-read encyclopedic entries written specifically for kids. The database also provides the American Heritage® Children’s Dictionary, 3rd Edition from Houghton Mifflin, and thousands of relevant photos, maps, and flags.
    • Professional Development Collection: Professional Development Collection™ includes full text for nearly 520 high-quality education journals and reports. This database provides a highly specialized collection of information especially for educators, professional librarians, and education researchers.
    • Read It! (Has its own interface): Read It! is designed for middle and high school students and adults who have a basic foundation in English grammar and reading but need adapted reading material for a variety of subjects. It offers resources to help build background knowledge, conduct research, and improve study skills. Core curriculum content includes more than 1,300 foundation articles focusing on topics covered in the U.S. curriculum as well as Canadian history and culture. Articles are supplemented by curated content to enhance topic knowledge and understanding. All content is designed to support English-language reading proficiency and comprehension as well as general literacy, research, note-taking, and academic writing.
    • Science Reference Center (Has its own interface): Science Reference Center™ is a comprehensive research database that provides easy access to a multitude of full-text science-oriented content. Science Reference Center contains full text for hundreds of science encyclopedias, reference books, periodicals, and other sources. Science Reference Center also satisfies the demand for standards-based content by providing teachers and librarians with articles correlated to state and national curriculum standards. The database contains science experiments, curriculum-aligned lesson plans, and a vast image collection. Allows students to browse topics by category and have quick access to science experiments, a citation tool, and helpful research guides. Science Reference Center supports both students and educators.
