The State Flag
The Missouri state flag was designed by Marie Elizabeth Oliver. It was approved on March 22, 1913. The flag has one red, one white and one blue stripe. The red stripe stands for valor (bravery). The white stripe stands for purity (goodness). The blue stripe stands for justice (fairness). The flag also has the Missouri state seal in the middle. The original flag made by Marie Elizabeth Oliver can be seen at the Secretary of State's office in Jefferson City.
